Unfiltered, possibly bottle conditioned. There are some floaties mid pour. Hazy, with a tight head and a glow. Huge, bready malt, and dried apricots on the nose with a spoonfull of citrusy-like hop spice. More litghtly toasted malt and fresh hop on the palate. Wow, I don’t understand these other ratings. Volumnous, and seamlessly complex. Very refreshing, and intelligent. Slight twists of yeast twang twines the line that keeps the dripping malt fruit from dipping into cloying. The finish is hoppy and kissed from the lips of tight grained bubbles, that remind me of top flight Viennas, and Oktoberfests. One of the best bocks I’ve had. One of the most suprising beers I’ve had in recent memory. 94B

500ml stop cork bottle. Thick orange-brown color with a thick off-white head. The aroma is sweet and herby, probably not the same as it would be brewery fresh. Damn, I’d have to guess this is old, unfortunate as the appearance was right on. Diacetly flavors surround the bocky malt thickness. The overall mouthfeel is just a messy jumble, with pungent sweetness mixing with light bitterness and a thin, watery, alcohol-laced butterscotch grossness. Quite a disappoinment, but I think it’s just way past it’s prime.

Sampled on 11/13/2009. This hellerbock pours a medium orange gold color from a 50cl swingtop. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is bread and sweet, caramel, touch of sweetness. A medium bodied bock. The malts are caramel and slightly sweet, touch of orange and orange peel. Hops are herbal and earthy. Some spices? Lively carbonation. Not as sweet as one would expect, but a lot more orange and orange peel than usual. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Bought at the bierkoning. Hazy, orange to amber colour with beautiful, slightly off-white foamy head. Sweet toast-malty, slightly nutty and fruity nose with caramel and a whiff of hops in the background. Moderately sweet flavour, medium to full body with a smooth and pleasant carbonation. Slightly toasty and fruity malty taste with herbal notes; sweet and slightly bitter finish with a rounded malty sweetness and balancing bitter hops. Nice beer

In the 0.5L flip cap bottle from the Huber Haus. Pours a hazy amber with a medium off white head. Wonderful toffee and caramel aroma. The flavoir has a surprisingly large hop bitterness that emerges from a fairly good malt bill. This is very tasty, but not the best Franconian that I had here.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. The look is amber in color with an off white head. The smell is malts, floral, and ok. The taste is sweet, malts, some grains, and caramel.

( 500ml flip-top bottle thanks to bu11zeye) Pours clear orange with bubbles around the rim. Great lacing. Nose of wet corn, spices. Taste is unsweetened corn, oddly bitter and a sweet smoky linger on the palette.

( 500ml bottle ) Pours a lightly hazy golden body with a small white head. Aroma of grass, caramel, light florals, and old books. Flavor of grass, corn, and metal with a bitter finish.
