rampmaster (168), Alden, New York, USA Oct 10, 2008 Presentation: It was poured from a green 12oz bottle into a pint glass.
Appearance: It had a dark burnt orange amber colored body with good clarity. The pour produced a thick and creamy light tan head. The head had decent retention and made some slippery lacing on the glass.
Smell: There is a pleasant malty character with sweet caramel notes and light hints of spicy hops.
Taste/Mouth feel: The flavor has a modest caramel maltiness with light toasted notes and a good balance of spicy hops. A slight herbal and a very slight metallic comes through as well in the finish. The palate has a slick texture with active carbonation and a medium body.
Notes: Overall it’s a solid Oktoberfest.
CaryTheDude (282), Ripon, Wisconsin, USA Oct 10, 2008 This beer kinda confuses me. Feels like there’s some rye in there or something. I’m used to only malt and nothingness in Marzens, but this one is different and a little bit better. Edgekrusher (58), , Alabama, USA Oct 9, 2008 12oz. Bottle: Aroma of caramel, soy, locker room, and urine. Poured copper/amber in color with a small to medium-sized, off-white head that disappeared very quickly. Clear BREWMUSKCLES (794), WEEHAWKEN, New Jersey, USA Oct 9, 2008 really a decent marzen. it has a nice malty taste that is just toasted and the genuine sugary sweet caramel flavor. the beer has a mild fruity flavor that is present and doesnt compete. the beer is appropriately substantive with low foamy carbonation and a sweet flavorful and sticky head. we don’t use real sugar too much here in America so i for one really appreciate that. a bit taken aback by the enjoyment on this one. a smooth number. DeadGuyFrank (345), http://westchesterbeer.com, USA Oct 7, 2008 Watery, light, not much flavor.....did not expect much from this and was not disappointed.
