austone (332), Turku; Pori, Finland Feb 24, 2008 Updated: Mar 1, 2008Hazy dark orange, big creamy head. Nose has sweet fruits (lots of carambola), some aniseed and parfumey notes. Overall aroma feels somehow raw and a bit homebrew-like. It’s like the beer has been kegged and served in too much of a hurry. Same goes for the flavor, which is dominated almost entirely by insipid hops, loosing the nice fruitiness and malts. Medium bodied with soft, a bit creamy mouthfeel. I was expecting something more crisp and malty. Maybe this was just a bad batch, since it definitely has potential. (8 3 6 3 12)
Re-rate, a few weeks further matured batch
The raw yeastiness is gone, leaving a more balanced, quite solid APA. Nice creamy appearance, with the same exotic fruity aroma. Strongly bitter flavor with some caramel-like maltiness. (8 4 6 3 13) mrdasilva (94), Helsinki, Finland Oct 10, 2007 Good head, coppery color. Tempting, very hoppy, aromatic aroma. Nice hoppy flavor. Very fruity. Good beer, no doubt about it. Miksu (1250), Jyväskylä, Finland Sep 13, 2007 Draught at Helsinki Beer Festival 2007. Amber color with nice creamy head.
Fruity, flowery, citrusy and grassy hop aroma with honey and odd petrol scent.
Cloying sweet flavor with honey, pineapple and strawberry. Low bitterness and low carbonation. Interesting but weird aroma. Too sweet or not enough bitterness. omhper (10454), Stockholm, Sweden Jun 21, 2007 Draught at Black Door, Helsinki. Hazy pale nut brown, minimal head. Interesting wild strawberry aroma. Medium sweet with rounded mouthfeel and medium body. Canteloupe mixes with wild strawberries backed by bready malt. Aromatic finish with above medium bitterness. FatPhil (2101), Espoo, Finland Jun 10, 2007 Draught (Helsinki Beer Festival 2007, Helsinki).
Rich amber. Smells of grape, and rabbit (feed) pellets. Fruity and vegetably - but in a good way. Taste is grapefruit and vegetables. Bitterness is refreshing and unusual.
