raymondwave (796), Finland May 27, 2008 Tap at Black Door, Helsinki. Dark, almost opaque black with smallish beige brown head. Looks like a porter. Roasted, coffeeish, malty and aromatic hoppy and caramel nose. Flavor is smooth dark roast coffee, chocolate, some liqourice with hop and roast bitterness. Smooth and slick mouthfeel, not very big, but very pleasant. Not quite like a german doppelbock maybe, but has porter and stout qualities to it. Very nice tho. Miksu (1286), Jyväskylä, Finland Apr 26, 2008 Draught at Helsinki Beer Festival 2008. Almost black color with small head. Sweetish aroma with salty licorice and dark bread. Sweet flavor with toffee, coffee and salty licorice. Chewy and worty mouthfeel, like in a beer that has not been fully fermented. Jukkabro (2394), Tampere, Finland Apr 21, 2008 Near black colored with red hints. Little light brown head. Roasted, rather sweet aroma with mild caramel, mild flowery hops also present. Good one, bot too doppelbockish though. Flavor also starts with dominating sweetness, mild roasted chocolate here too. Aftertaste turns to dry-roasted and flowery. Good one, hard to say style for this though. Lalli (57), Helsinki, Finland Apr 12, 2008 Draught at HBF ´08. Very dark color, modest head. Roasted, espresso-like aroma with alcohol in it. Porter would, perhaps, be a more suitable category for this quite enjoyable brew. austone (440), Turku; Pori, Finland Apr 7, 2008 Opaque dark brown, thick beige head. Slightly buttery, roasted malts on the nose. Flavor is light liquorice, roasted & syrupy malts with herbal bitterness. Medium bodied, smoothly carbonated and a bit sticky palate. A porter like bock.
