| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Dec 6, 2009 22. Pours a deep black with a dense, towering, almost ridiculous moussy burnt tan head. Dense sheets of lace coming down the sides of the glass. Roasty, earthy, slightly herbal and peppery nose, fairly subdued. Creamy medium body, active carb. Roast, chocolate, coffee, wet leaves, dry leaves, black pepper, and herbs on the mid-palate. Long roasty finish. The fresh hops give a complexity and a darkness throughout that even a big roasty stout like this wouldn’t have without them. You might not sense right away that it’s a hop note that brings that complexity, but it’s there for sure. ericandersnavy (1137), crossroads, Texas, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 1, 2009 Bottle courtesy Ditmeir. Pours black and thick with little carbonation. Roasted grain, chocolate and abundant citrusy hops aroma. Big hop bitterness in the taste, also, with nice roasted grain, dark fruit notes rounding out the flavor. Even with little carbonation, this was a solid brew. hopscotch (5528), Vero Beach, Florida, USA

Roasted malts, hops and chocolate aromas. Nice on the palate, hops are downplayed by the chocolate, roastiness and syrup in the front. mcbeyond (33), Newport Beach, California, USA

I wouldn’t call it hoppy, but definitely aromatic and toasty. Seems to have smoothed out quite a bit with just a year of age. Dangerously drinkable and tasty. Cavie (1490), Fort Worth, Texas, USA

An interesting hoppy take on the Imperial Stout style. More hopped than some others that are high in hops. Some heavy chocolate notes also available. Taste is a very smooth rich chocolate with heavy malts. Some hops provide for the feeling of spice but not enough to be notable in the flavor. Finishes with caramel flavor.
