Aromas of chocolate, floral hoppiness, pine, roast, and some coffee. Definitely still a bunch of hops in the aromas. Tastes of chocolate, coffee, floral hoppiness, roast, and citrus. I found the tastes to be a little bit of a let down compared to the aromas (couldn’t quite put my finger on it, but it was just different). Alcohol content well hidden. markwise (1186), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA

Pours dark cola brown with off-white head and noticeable particulates. Nose is roasted malt, licorice, floral hops, earth, and pine. Flavor is a bit unique: roasted malt, floral hops, licorice, citrus hops, and a bit of astringent quality. Medium mouthfeel with bites of black licorice throughout. A very strange flavor combo, but it works... jarspag (598), Los Angeles, California, USA

Huge aroma, hops, pine, citrus, with wood, malt, and dark fruits. Taste of bitter hops, toasted malt, chocolate, and pine. Lingering bitter malt flavors. Very weird but it works. pantanap (1354), Chicago, Illinois, USA

flavors of your average imperial stout with quite a considerable amount of roast and hops in the middle and at the end. a lasting bitter hop finish to boot. a very nice hopped up imperial stout. slight better than dark sky but not as nice as hoppy darkness or night stalker from GI. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 20, 2009 Hop Harvest edition bottle brought to the tasting by tjthresh, much thanks Tom: Basically opaque with a fading creamy tan head which left very good lace upon the glass. The wonderful aroma displays the hop character big time! Grassy, resiny, grapefruit, clove, pepper are all there. Notes of chocolate, charred and coffee vapours with a quick dash of prune and sugar too. Think Surly Darkness with it’s hop forward traits and you have that on the nose here. The taste is not as impressive but hardly bad either. Herbal and slightly astringent bitterness supported by a iced mocha espresso. Earthy and burnt overtones. Some hop spice and acidic fruit tones as well. The mouth feel is lively and aggressive with a medium-body, a metallic finish is a tad distracting. This is really solid hop forward impy, clearly displaying it’s PNW origins. gunhaver (1025), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Mar 19, 2009 Bottle, courtesy Ibrew2or3. Brownish red color, thick frothy marshmallow head, thick lacing. Huge hops in the nose, with big roast as well. Chocolate and dry flowery notes. Flavor has a lot of bitter hops with sweet cocoa and dry coffee, with some nice thick roast in the finish. Full-bodied, balanced and very tasty. Swolf3 (252), Elkton, Maryland, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Mar 19, 2009 Bottle shared with Bruce at Stateline. Poured black with tan head. Aroma was coffee, chocolate, and malt. Taste was similar with some roasted characteristics and had a nice hoppy taste for an imperial stout. Enjoyed very much and thanks again Bruce.
