Black in color, but lacks head retention and lacing which brings this down quite a bit. Smell was burnt and roasty, some chocolate as well. My notes also say the nose was a bit boozy. Taste was roasty, chocolate-y, and has a bit of booze to it as well. I think I recall this one being even downright charred; which was surpisingly good, IMO. Thick mouthfeel, which I love for imperial stouts, but with a little more carbonation this could be great. I rather enjoyed my sample, and I think age would certainly benefit this one quite well, and a little more carbonation would sure help to. I’d get this again given the chance.

Pours dark and thick. Breathing in chocolate and roast and C-hops. The drink is lunch itself and so very dangerously drinkable. The throast is coated with coconut and oatmeal, roast and some chocolate and coffee. The hops are there and provide some delightful citrus but altogether undistinguishable. Full mouthfeel. Very good IS.

Bomber poured a translucent deep dark brown bordering on black with a lasting brown head and excellent lacing. Aromas of coffee, bitter chocolate, roasted malt, fruittiness and hints of vanilla and licorice. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of alcohol, roasted malt, coffee, dark fruits and hints of dark chocolate vanilla and licorice with a smooth warming lingering bittersweet finish.

Thank you Tom/After4ever for this one :) It’s pitch black with a huge, light brown head and a creamy head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, licorice, light mango and chalk. The flavour has sweetness and it’s slightly vinous with ntoes of dark fruits, roasted malt, licorice, light alcohol and a roasted bitterness. It’s really nice, and I suspect it would be even nicer if it was allowed to mature some years.

Served cold from 22oz. bottle. Pours jet black with a light brown-ish head. Smells deeply of roasted malts and chocolate. The taste is alcohol, coffee, and chocolate. Very good, rich, thick and creamy stout. I am a huge fan.

Bottle (22oz) shared with HogTownHarry, tupalev & garthicus -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with a spare diminishing frothy light-brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, almost burnt, alcohol and notes of chocolate and peat. Flavour: Holy alcohol Batman! Along with all that booze there’s roasted malt, some chocolate and green hops. Dry, bitter finish. Hard to gauge how I feel about this. it’s quite boozy -- I think I like it!? I’ll go with I like it.

2008 Bottle - Pours a dark brown with a large brown head, aroma is complex - burnt sugar, burnt grain, burnt hops, burnt grain alcohol, yeah, a bit of alcohol burn with this one, says it’s an American Style Imperial Stout, kinda like a russian, dry and bitter, if thats what American means...flavour follows aroma, smokey and strong, finished with toasted malts and bitterness, decent IS, but not great...

Bottle shared with Hogtown Harry, Garthicus, and Blankboy, courtesy of Harry. Pitch blacker than night black, very dark brown head. Strong aroma - roast, alcohol, chocolate, and more alcohol. Taste - wow, intense alcohol, fading to a lovely roast. Some chocolate notes as well. Intense, and good stand to mellow out a bit, but good!
