Roasted, malty, earth, vanilla, herbal pine hops, and alcohol in the aroma. Bam! Hops. I can’t believe how hoppy this is. Very bitter, earthy hops, roasted malts, bittersweet cocoa. More like a dark DIPA than an imperial stout. But, who cares about style, this was an awesome brew that I’d love to have more of. garthicus (1289), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Shared with Tupalev, Harry and Blankboy: Appearance: Pitch black, almost nonexistant head. Aroma: Sharp leather chocolate, spice, smoke. Flavour: Smokey, coffee, chocolate, slightly boozey, a dusty kind of a finish.... hmmm. Turf and whiskey, not bad at all. HogTownHarry (4006), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 4, 2008 Bottle (22oz). Shared with blankboy, garthicus and tupalev - my bottle. Oily-looking black pour, smallish brown head. Burnt malt aroma, with peat, iodine, hessian, tar, blackstrap molasses, dry herbal hops --- and booze. The taste is solid - huge dry green hops, and smooth deep roast malt and alcohol - dry and straightforward, very nice. Moderately thick body, very slick and astringent, fairly quick finish and a coating bitterness left on the tongue - very good. robertjm (406), El Cerrito, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jun 3, 2008 Purchased at Bevmo, in Concord, Ca. Insanely expensive at $10/btl. Thick head. Pours like Old Rasputin. No light passes through body. Very dark dark brown color, boardering on black. Very close flavor profile when compared to Old Rasputin, however, not quite the sweetish-ness to it. No aroma to speak of. Also body might be a tad thinner. Overall a nice beer, but not something I’m going to spend that kind of money on again. beerbill (1954), Laurel, New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 30, 2008 22 oz. bottle courtesy of a trtade with Jake65. Pours black with a large chocolate brown head that lasted until the end and left sticky lace all the way to the bottom of the glass. Pleasant aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and some floral hops. There is more roasted malt and less chocolate in the flavor, followed by some assertive hops. Moderately bitter at the close and very dry, with the dryness lingering well beyond the swallow. Little evidence of the alcohol. A good beer, but I prefer my impy stouts less hopped. Rciesla (3645), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 24, 2008 On tap at Boise Front Door. Pours out black with a little red. Topped with a nice tan head. A very good aroma of roast and a little smoke. Tast of more roast some brown sugar. A touch of bitter dark chocolate. Not to bad. I was thinking it was going to be a little thicker.
