Pours like Old Rasputin. No light passes through body. Very dark dark brown color, boardering on black. Very close flavor profile when compared to Old Rasputin, however, not quite the sweetish-ness to it. No aroma to speak of. Also body might be a tad thinner. Overall a nice beer, but not something I’m going to spend that kind of money on again. beerbill (1976), Laurel, New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 30, 2008 22 oz. bottle courtesy of a trtade with Jake65. Pours black with a large chocolate brown head that lasted until the end and left sticky lace all the way to the bottom of the glass. Pleasant aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and some floral hops. There is more roasted malt and less chocolate in the flavor, followed by some assertive hops. Moderately bitter at the close and very dry, with the dryness lingering well beyond the swallow. Little evidence of the alcohol. A good beer, but I prefer my impy stouts less hopped. Rciesla (3830), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA

A very good aroma of roast and a little smoke. Tast of more roast some brown sugar. A touch of bitter dark chocolate. Not to bad. I was thinking it was going to be a little thicker. railcat1 (582), Orlando, Florida, USA

Re-rated: Bottle from Whole Foods. Pours oily black with a creamy beige head. Smells of milk cocoa, oatmeal, and roasted coffee. Tastes of each with added notes of black licorice and toasted malts. Smooth and balanced. Hard not to enjoy
