Kudos for finding a hop profile that compliments the roastiness of the malts. Pours black with tan head. Flavor is smoke, malt, hickory, unsweetened chocolate and ends on a very dry note. Amazing stuff - if you love the dry Impy stout this is your beer! presario (3001), Calgary, Alberta, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 29, 2008 Bottle. Black with a creamy moderate brown head that fits like a glove. Thick oily cocoa and coffee aroma. Some alcohol in the nose but more subdued than expected. Thin soft alcohol body. Huge alcohol burn and tingle. A boozy oily pint. Aquilo (275), California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 27, 2008 This one is boozy all over. The smell is pine and perhaps raisins. Sweet smell and taste. Poured pitch black with and extra thick gray-brown head. Medium bodied; a bit thin for style, I think. Taste is sweet and sour, and still rather piney. Leaves a sour burnt hop taste on the palate. Very drinkable, but not quite what I expect from an Imperial stout. NobleSquirrel (1120), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 26, 2008 Draft, DLD. Actually, was surprised by the way this looked. Had a really nice taste, though it looked a bit thin. Big roasty character with a nice sweetness to back it up. Very nice. Tejas (702), Dallas, Texas, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Apr 24, 2008 Boozy smell and taste. More boozy taste though. Coffee aroma too. Much better as it warms up. 11% alcohol isn’t noticeable at all. Waaaay to drinkable for 11%. Downed this sucker in no time and paid the price for it. Solid Imp stout, no doubt. Oh yeah, btw, cool menacing label. beoir (51), st paul, Minnesota, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 12, 2008 Bottle. Thanks to Santa. Poured a nice deep black body with thin head. Aroma is soapy, light grassy hops. Flavor has a nice roastiness to it, light chocolate and malt, light hops. The flavor and aroma do not match at all. That’s a good thing as the aroma does not have a deep stout scent to it and the body has a nice thick roasty stout flavor. There is not too much complexity going on here. What is going on is a nice thick roasty imperial stout. Very quaffable, light alcohol feel and a nice roasty chocolate body.
