Very dark, almost burned coffee malt flavor with a bittersweet chocolate note. Dry hoppy finish. Nice. JohnnyJ (1352), Carlsbad, California, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 20, 2008 Foam Rangers January meeting. Dark as ever with little head. Very nice nose of chocolate, hops, and roasted malts. Flavor is a sweet malt roast that lends itself well to a good hop touch. Nice bitter chocolate finsih. DragonStout (1380), Pataskala, Ohio, USA

The hops showed up in th eflavor as well. Not over done , just the right balance.Kind of reminded me of a hybrid of an Impy stout with an IPA.Finished of slightly bitter.Thanx to Hellbilly for this. shigadeyo (2263), Harrison, Ohio, USA

It has very little carbonation and only a few brown-colored bubbles around the edges of the surface, but that’s it. The aroma is a wonderful blend of dark chocolate, sweet roasted malt, and hints of licorice. The flavor is dominated by heavily caramelized and roasted malt. It has quite a bit of malty sweetness that is followed by a mild to moderate level of citrus bitterness. Hints of espresso and semi-sweet round out the finish. The alcohol is surprising absent in the flavor, but its warming effects can definitely be felt. The body of this beer if full and it is smooth and very mellow on the palate. It coats the mouth well and allows all of the flavors to be absorbed. There is some residual syrupy stickiness on the lips. This is a large beer, but it drinks very nicely. It feels like port in the mouth and tastes like a complex blend of malty and hoppy flavors. I would actually prefer slightly less hop precense in this beer so that more of the rich, dark malt complexities could come through. Still, this is a very good beer!
1 pint, 6 Flouid Ounce bottle (Alc 11.5% by Vol.) from realale420. Thanks Brian! Rating #127 for this beer... riversideAK (2779), Shoreline, Washington, USA

Big roast and chocolate too. Flavor has roast, dark fruits, chocolate, and coffee all balanced by big hop profile. Lots of earthy bitterness and roast in the finish. Some heat, but what made this a sipper was it’s complexity and large body. Pretty good stuff. ChazMania (415), Pasadena, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 29, 2007 Bomber. First Stout in a while....no head on the pour at all. Aroma is big and sweet. Flavor is balanced seemingly well, some of the more characteristic flavors of this style in malt, chocolate and coffee. It does seem balanced. A good beer and I’d like to taste this up against other highly rated beers in this style. (speedway, stone, etc).

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 23, 2007 Bottled. Completely opaque, no color even around the edges. Very small, creamy, brown head that turns into a ring. The aroma is loaded with dark fruits and esters, similar to a grand cru (banana too!), but also with lots of molasses and some chocolate. Fullish body, virtually flat with a wet finish. Tastes like dark fruits, esters, alcohol, roasted malts, chocolate, coffee with a lightly bitter, mocha finish. Tons of malts, enough hops, alcohol is very well hidden. Yummy!
