Full body sticky palate. Taste dark chocolate, citrus, alcohol, and a bitter finish. Not very well balanced for such a big taste. hellbilly (1564), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 5, 2007 Courtesy boboski. Dark opaque color with little head. Aroma has a good hop character that has an earthy, almost minty smell. Not a ton of roast character in the aroma, but it’s pleasant nonetheless. Decent roast character throughout the taste, and the minty hoppiness comes out in the finish along with a small bit of heat. Alcohol well-hidden, I assumed this was around 8%. mgumby10 (1858), Jupiter, Florida, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 4, 2007 Courtesy boboski. Pours a oily pitch black, with just about zero head. Smells of pretty big hops, a little roastiness, some chocolate and dark malts as well. Taste is quite sweet, a touch bitter, but definitely a nice blend of hops and chocolate together. A little roasty, but the finish is mostly chocolate. Pretty medium bodied, but still had quite a nice and full mouthfeel. Pretty good overall. BBB63 (4271), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 29, 2007 Bottle and served in my Stone IRS snifter: Oily opaque with some initial frothy tan head and minimal lace. Aroma has notes of burnt malt, mocha, prune, fig, grassy and slightly citric hops, leather horse saddle, and minor phenols. The taste is a nice sharp blend of smoky malts, molasses, and spicy hop bitterness. There is some coffee and peppery overtones along with a chalky old Hersey chocolate bar. The mouth feel is lush and oily but not thick as other in the genre. A bit underrated IMO, very enjoyable stout. mkobes (2104), paramus, New Jersey, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Apr 15, 2007 22 oz bomber. Deep brown in color with a little off white head. Malty caramel aroma. Coffee notes. Roasty chocolatey and coffee like flavor. Hoppy notes. Finish is chocolatety and hoppy. Full bodied like Dark Lord. Very nice beer. Enjoyable. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Apr 15, 2007 Bomber. The first thing I notice about this beer is the shocking $10.15 price tag. Christ, I’ve never even heard of Sante Fe Brewing before but for the sticker price, quality ingredients must be used. Anyway, it pours without any head, save for a few bubbles around the edges. Aroma is more hoppy than anything, with just some chocolate and if you dig a bit deeper, some coffee. The palate is as thick as Dark Lord, which is the next noticeable thing. The beer is unfiltered so theres plenty of sludge to go around. As hoppy of an impy stout that I’ve had in a while and it’s been in my fridge for at least 2 months. holdenn (1445), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 9, 2007 Bomber sampled courtesy of drewbeerme. Pours a dark black color with a thin head. Chocolate roast aroma and flavor. Medium bodied and a little sweet. Nothing stands out in this but it is a decent beer that does the basic chocolate roast well.
