Bottle shared at Lithy’s Septemberfest tasting. Pours a dark brown with solid tan head. Nose of roasty chocolate. Flavor is bitter chocolate, roasty dark grains, and bourbon. Great label.

courtesy of fiulijn - dark black coloured with a chaotic beige foam; fairly roasted chocolatey aroma with fair hoppy notes, licorice and ashes; full-bodied and very bitter, creamy mouthfeel, dry and long roasted coffeish aftertaste with lingering hoppy notes

In an effort to knock out the rest of my backlog, my ratings will be fairly generic and sparse. If the beer had anything special to offer, it will be noted following this disclaimer. The number ratings above are accurate based on my tasting notes. Following the elimination of my backlog, all beers will be entered in real time and will be more useful. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks to whomever brought this to Beerlando’s throwdown. Fairly average Impy Stout, without a huge amount of sweetness. Decent enough, though.l

Pours from the bottle like used motor oil with an off-white head. Smells of chocolate, dried fruit, caramel, and coffee. Very nice mouthfeel, very smooth and just enough fullness. Tastes like chocolate, coffee, pine tree, dried fruit, and subtle mint. It leaves a pretty heavy alcohol feel on the tongue in the after-taste, yet it isn’t unpleasant, its welcoming and warming. I actually enjoy this one quite a lot and I would definitely purchase another bottle, maybe even hold on to it to see how a little age treats it.

Pours a nearly opaque black-brown with beautifully dense tan head. Malt-laden aroms with chocolate and brown sugar and something like honey-roasted almonds. Flavor is initially sweet, then it settles in with a heavy bitter cocoa (baker’s chocolate?) followed by just a hint of hoppy, malty booze. The ABV is well-disguised in the flavor. Very nice offering in this category.

Bottle received via trade with ditmier. Pours opaque with an average, frothy, dark brown head, somewhat lasting with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (chocolate, molasses, nutty), heavy hop (perfume, pine), average yeast (leather) with notes of wood, alcohol, tar, licorice, and prunes. Full bodied, alcoholic texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, heavy sweetness, acidity, and bitterness.
