| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | May 31, 2009 Poured a really nice black color with a thick brown head. Aroma was coffee, chocolate, dark malt and alcohol. Flavor was pretty nice, some good stout characteristcs, but he back end was very boozy and astringent. This beer would do well with a couple of years of aging. thewombat (112), Brooklyn, New York, USA

| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | May 11, 2009 Updated: May 19, 2009Honestly surprised that this is rated so highly, but I say that about lots of imperial stouts/sours that get hype for no obvious reason. This beer has been aged for one year and has improved significantly in that time, but still not enough. Pours pitch black with a decent-sized chocolate head. Aroma is much better than I remember - lots of alcohol/dark fruits and hoppiness. Taste is where it falls flat. Lots of chalk, ash, and roast. Tastes like they burned whatever was in here. That’s about it. Very one-dimensional. Four drinks are about all I can take; drain pour. anders37 (4747), Malmö, Sweden

Has a roasted malty chocolate aroma with some hoppy hints. Roasted malty coffee flavor with lots of bitter hoppy hints. Has a roasted malty hoppy bitter finish. Pours a deep brown not quite pitch black- a bit lighter than expected color for an impy- ok lasting head. Aroma is on the hoppy side- green minty pine and very columbus like. Minty and earthy coffee and roast with nutty dark burnt chocolate- slight phenols. Roasted barley and hops in the flavor, mint pine citrus - even some vegetal character- chocolate and licorice mintiness going on - raw tacky bitterness but fairly smooth for this abv. sjolles85 (88), Tampa, Florida, USA
