Pours a deep brown not quite pitch black- a bit lighter than expected color for an impy- ok lasting head. Aroma is on the hoppy side- green minty pine and very columbus like. Minty and earthy coffee and roast with nutty dark burnt chocolate- slight phenols. Roasted barley and hops in the flavor, mint pine citrus - even some vegetal character- chocolate and licorice mintiness going on - raw tacky bitterness but fairly smooth for this abv. sjolles85 (90), Tampa, Florida, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 19, 2009 22oz. Bomber. Thick tan head with serious lacing covering a deep brown/black beer. Nose is roasty with notes of chocolate and pine. Flavor shows off a series of malt characters including roasted espresso, chocolate and slightly burnt toasted malt. Bitterness is impressive and lingers on the tongue thoughout. Alcohol is well hidden even as the beer warms. Body is creamy with a medium/high level of carbonation. Finishes with a dry and bitter flourish. Would be interesting to try in a year or so and see how it tastes after the bitterness mellows. jmm635 (269), Havertown, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 19, 2009 Poured very clear and dark brown with a lacing tan head. Bitter chocolate and roasty aromas, but a fairly standard stout throughout. Hoppy bitterness on the palate and a lingering dry finish. PhillyBeer2112 (2090), Orange Park, Florida, USA

Lots of roast in this one with some malted chocolate balls and smells a bit hot. Flavor is roasted with some nice chocolate and coffee notes. Hops are well presented and beer isn’t hot at all. Nice.
