fata2683 (837), Panama City, Florida, USA Nov 6, 2009 bottle, pours hazy amber with a medium off white head. Grapefruit and hop aroma. Nice sweet toasted malt and apricot flavor that finishes dry with a moderate hop presence that is nice and mellow. Carbonation is low and the mouth is creamy. Really nice. Thanks Jordan! Ughsmash (3981), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Oct 22, 2009 Bomber. Poured clear medium brown with a short cap of off-white/beigey head. The aroma picked up aged caramel, toffee, brown sugar, and redder fruits with very fragrant floral and peppery accents around.. there were just enough sugars to keep the alcohol from being too aggressive. The flavor had more of the caramel and fruits at the core paired with a layer of molasses.. bitterness and warmth were assertive in the form of herbal notes, black pepper, and lesser citrus character.. long, hot finish. Medium-bodied with moderate-plus carbonation on the palate.. heavier around the edges, but rather week feel on the middle.. this didn’t flow that well.. overall a decent brew with some solid components, but rough on several facets. jrob21 (1252), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Oct 16, 2009 Cute name, ok beer. Pours a cloudy, syrupy looking dark orange color. Aroma is sweet, thick, pine, and citrus hops. Flavor though is where this falls a tad short. It is just a little too close to lighter fluid to be thoroughly enjoyable. I’m not saying pour it out, just that I would like the alcohol turned down and the flavor and hops turned up. The finish does have a bit of pine hops. You are left with a tinge of alchol burn. JPDIPSO (4865), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Aug 22, 2009 Bottle ala Brocklander. Lightly hazed umber color with a taller, tight, tiny, bubbled, beige head. Head slowly settles with a heavy sheet of lace. Nice aromas of heavy caramel, vanilla and hints of spice; including cinnamon and mace. Soft feel. Light ripe fruit flavors in the front. Some light toffee, and bits of brandy in the background. Finish has some light oak and herbal hops. I don’t taste the alcohol, but my ears are turning red. Finish has some herbals with a bit of wintergreen. linger is rather dry and uneventful, except for a bit of wood. Nose really had me started with this one. Flavors were a slight let down. A decent strong ale. I need a bit more malt depth and flavor in my barleywine. ditmier (1021), Boise, Idaho, USA Jul 20, 2009 2008 Bottle - Pours amber with a medium lt tan head...aroma is sticky malt, caramel, dark fruit and hop florals, some resin as well...flavour punches you in the mouf, chewy spice, burnt sugar, hop bitters and heat...good stuff, some more time in the bottle and this might get pretty interesting... GG (1613), NorCal, California, USA Jun 13, 2009 The beer packs quite a punch in the 22oz bottle. The body is amber in color, cloudy with a 1" beige head. Aroma has some different angles going on...sweet caramel malts one time, then piney/floral hops, then some vanilla and spice comes out. Sweet malts hit the palate dead center, but the follow-up suprise of floral hops was quite suprising. Tasted like I was chewing on a sugar coated rose petal. Alcohol seemed nicely restrained, perhaps due to the sweetness. I can see this being stocked during the Winter months. Ungstrup (14754), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 22, 2009 Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel and straw. The flavor is sweet matly with notes of hops, spices, and cloves, leading to a very bitter finish. The body is thin. Thanks Papsoe for sharing. yobdoog (1426), Woodridge NY, New York, USA May 21, 2009 This was a bit odd. Aroma is a little dirty spice with mild bitterness and malts. Taste is almost metallic but spice and sweet malt cover it up. Not great.
