Pours yellow brown with lots of particulates and an off-white head. Nose is caramel, raisin, malt, sweetness, brown sugar, and some yeast. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 10, 2009 Turbid orange pour with off-white head. Nose is bready caramel malt, fruity hops, berry, cherry, spicy. Tastes citric at first, with tangerine, pineapple, then the caramel malt and fermented fruit kicks in a bit, but this one predominantly comes off like a very malty tropical fruity hop bomb with good balance. This one may be more of an IIPA than barleywine, but it is very good regardless of classification. JohnnyJ (1350), Carlsbad, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 9, 2009 Pours an orange color with light tan head. Hoppy, citrus, biscuits, and caramel malt. Definitely leaning towards the bitter side. Far to expensive for a mediocre barley wine. IlanMan (846), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 26, 2009 Dark golden pour with a real hoppy aroma. Had more malt character than hops in the flavor which was odd. Really unpleasant for hops. Had a very detergent-like taste. Very unblended. Needs either age or reformulation.
