moejuck (1111), Ohio, USA Jan 26, 2008 Shared by puddintane. I thought this stuff was awful--so I’m in the minority it seems. The aroma is alright--slightly hoppy with warm malts. Golden brown body with a medium head. Medium palate, and this is over-carbonated for certain. The flavor is a ton of burnt flavor--seriously hoppy with no good malt balance. Terrible flavor.
JMFG (1117), Florida, USA Aug 27, 2008 Bottle. Slightly hazy amber with a thin even layer of light tan head. Spicy malts and peppery hops on the aroma, mild dark fruits. A bit of heat to start, grassy hop taste border on astringent, and kind of clashed with the alcohol. Kind of mixed up. ChazMania (288), Pasadena, California, USA Aug 16, 2008 Bomber poured into pint glass. This beer had a strong metal or aluminum flavor. The malt was nice but the metal after taste was a bit over the top for me. Foolish_Mortal (936), San Diego, California, USA Aug 10, 2008 22oz. bottle. Light brown, orange color with a thin film of white head. Alefruit, higher alcohol, medicinal hop aromatics. Ruddy caramel and figgy alefruit flavors dominate. Pinesol and aspirin hop notes a strident counterpoint. High alcohol presence later manifests. Caramel, raisin, sharp hop bitterness in the finish with residual heat. Mouthfeel is heavy, somewhat hot. IMtheOptimator (1113), Bethel, Connecticut, USA Aug 5, 2008 Poured a cloudy amber with a fizzy off-white head. There is a faint aroma of some light caramel and some delicate notes of light fruit. Flavor is sharply bitter, metallic, some pine hops and light fruit. Overly harsh, alcoholic, and metallic, with not a whole lot of discernible flavor. Overall a lackluster disappointing barley wine. jimbowood (716), Athens, Georgia, USA Aug 3, 2008 bottle. Not very good. Metallic and plastic off flavors makes me think I got a bad bottle.
