Commercial Description:
Hop Harvest Edition was brewed in September of 2008 using 200 lbs of fresh Treasure Valley Chinook hop flowers from the John Wilmunster hop farm in Greenleaf, ID. A huge, fresh grapefruit profile complements the malty sweetness of this 9%, 100+ IBU fresh hop beer. Leafer Madness Imperial Pale Ale - 2008 Hop Harvest Edition has a green bottle cap and is hand stamped with "2008 Hop Harvest Edition" on the right side of the label.

Bomber. Good floral, pine and citrus aromas on the nose. Dark copper body with white head and some sugar coated lacing left on the pint glass. Good mix of citrus oranges and grapefruits with some sweet sugar and dry resin. Quite refreshing to to plate due to fact I was sick and drinking only water for a week before beer. Good beer.

Bomber. Pours a hazy dark gold with a dense 2 finger beige head that lasts. The nose is ripe citrus and sweet malt. The taste is caramel, pink grapefruit and orange rind with a lingering bitter pine finish. Medium mouthfeel. Good DIPA.

22oz bottle @Tampa Wkly Gathering shared by Ibrew2or3–pours a thin off white head and hazy gold color. Aroma is mild herbal hops, some medium malt. Taste is nice herbal/resin hops, secondary medium malt-caramel. Smooth.

Bomber courtesy of a trade with ditmier. I thought for a moment I got two Leafer Madness bombers (not a bad thing at all, really). Then I noticed the faint green stamp indicating this is the Hop Harvest version. Pours just like the regular version with hazy deep gold body and thin off white head. The aroma is similar as the regular version except it seems both smoother and a little milder in strength. It does emit more notes of grassy hops to go along with sweet malts in the background. The taste is heavier in grassy hop notes with tangelo, pine and pure resin bitterness bringing about a well rounded west coast hop profile. It seems to have smoother hops than the regular version. I was expecting it to be a little rougher if anything. It ends with some malt sweetness and tangelo hop flavor leading into lingering bitterness.

Bottle thanks to Ibrew2or3. Pours a yellow gold with a lot of floral hops, pine hops, and malt. Flavor shows maltiness, a caramel quality, and lots ot sweet pine and floral hops. Laces up the glass- great wet hop ale. Thoroughly enjoyable.

courtesy of ibrew2or3. Bottle with green cap. Pours amber, white head. Compared to the previous version, this one had a significant extra bitterness and hops to it. Aroma of fruity hops and citrus/herbal with a less emphasis on the malts. Taste, light bitter hops with slight notes of caramel malts. Definite extra hoppiness in this one.

Pour: Bomber to pint glass. Clear gold with a tinge of amber. Fluffy off-white head with exceptional retention and very good lacing. Nose: Lots of cidery apple notes with a sweet citrus character reminiscent of tangerine. Not especially robust. Mouth: Pale malt profile, definitely not a sweet DIPA. Big herbal hops midpalate, with some orangey citrus in the finish. Nice solid bitterness with no astringency. Pleasantly dry and resinous. Carbonation is a little low, but it’s not bad. A very good DIPA and a nice surprise coming from a brewery I’ve never heard of before this.

The aroma is kind of light for the style. Somewhat juicy citrus and floral notes. Some sweet malts a well. Hazy golden orange pour with a thin head. The flavor is soft and leafy hops. Somewhat floral with some citrus skins too, but not aggressive or intense at all. The malts are bready and sweet, a touch grainy. Lingering light juicy hops round out the finish. I would think this was actually really nice right after it was released, but I am pretty sure it is not currently fresh hop season. Still not bad.
