The aroma opened with juicy peaches and apricots with lesser floral notes over sweet caramel, honey, and light maple syrup.. fine initial impression. The flavor had a whole bunch of biscuity malts paired with maple and vanilla at the core.. bitterness was a little lighter than anticipated (over the first 3/4 of the drink), with black pepper, light fruit skins, and dry floral character.. finished with tacky wet grains and biscuits topped by an assertive bitterness. Medium-plus bodied, but slick on the palate.. tacky and ugly in certain places.. just OK overall feel. There was some good stuff in here, but it wasn’t a great IIPA. KyotoLefty (1501), Kyoto, Japan

Glowing amber-orange color with lace. Faint aroma—slight citrus hop, light malts. Caramel malt flavor with huge hop bitterness. Peppery, grassy, relatively light malt presence. A huge hop showcase, but unbalanced and rather unpleasantly bitter, although more caramel kicked in as it warmed up.

No, seriously, this is one of the best hoppy beers I’ve had. The label says Imperial Pale, but it says on here Imperial IPA? Whatever. If you’re a hophead, this is the beer for you. Smells of citrus, strong piney hops...reefer, yes. Excelente. brenn79 (217), Idaho, USA
