This isn’t real malty, but no too hoppy either. It has a great light flavor, but enough caramel bite to it that it’s not at all boring. Great stuff. One of my favorites for the style. The appearance is a hazy red color with a large pillow of foam. Flavor is boring and bland with only a minor tasting of caramelized malt. BMan1113VR (2897), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA

Aroma of light manure, light hops, grain, cereal, and caramel. Taste is caramel, lightly fruity with citrus hops, and toast. A bit fizzy and water like on the tongue. More caramel malt in the taste. A nice roasted malt, honey, and earthy, pine hop flavors blend well. Bitter metallic finish detracts a little. rayOfBeer (319), El Cerrito, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 14, 2008 Poured from bomber a caramel-amber with large off-white head. Aroma is roasted grain and powdered cocoa. Flavor begins with a subtle sweetness with bittersweet chocolate and quickly drys out with roasted grain, caramel and malt ending in a somewhat tart finish. There is a smoothness throughout the palate running from lightly sweet to dry tart. Overall nice flavors and decent beer but rather over-priced for what’s here.
