Commercial Description:
Straw colored light ale, brewed with rice to give a smooth, clean taste, and lightly hopped with a subtle bitterness. One of our featured beers @ BBW during baseball season, named after Babe Ruth and Fenway's infamous curse of the Bambino.

On draught at BeerWorks Fenway, 7/2/2005. Pours a very light, fairly still looking (a few bubbles rise here and there) blonde-straw colored (that might be giving it too much color) beer. No head, no lacing, nothing. Aroma smells of lightly sour, grainy notes, old wet hay (though very faint). Flavor begins with a horrible sour and stale note, backed by a tremendous amount of water. Bready, moldy whitebread and lemon extract, with some stale straw and more water. Horribly offensive. Finish is not clean and there is no hops presence. Carbonation is moderate, rather fizzy texture on the palate with a very light body (but not light enough to be bland) and just tons of water. An interesting theme, but just a god-awful beer, at least my sample was. It’s odd that there is so much variation on their light beers, as this was nearly undrinkable (though I did choke it down), but their Millar Lite, was quite tastey.

On draft at Fenway. Light yellow beer with minimal head. As the beer warms a sweet aroma emerges. Tastes like water with lemon zest and finishes with some hop flavor. a beer that would show any contamination - none here. Hop presence is more pronounced as beer warms.

Very light colored ale--think "lager" essentially. Something fruity here but a quick finish. A tinge of bitterness, but stilll..very light. Not what I expect from a beer.

Tap. Pale yellow, decent foamy head. A bit of lemon, some nice citric hoppiness - not too bad considering they even admit to using rice in the commercial description. A little bit of graininess in the end...as an NL Red Sox fan, I hope it helps to break the curse!

Draft at the Fenway Brewpub - Poured a very pale amber in color with a foamy bright white head. Aroma was not strong, but was slightly sweet with some hopiness. Flavor was very weak, watery almost, with a light citrus and hop flavor. Mildly bitter at the finish. Not great...

Light gold color. Lingering nut taste--one of the best goldens I’ve ever had. I wasn’t expecting much since I don’t like the style too often. Leaves light, minimal head without tasting terrible. Well done! GeniusGirl is a genius for her observation: the peanutty taste gives it a flavor just like a baseball game at the old ballpark.

This straw colored ale is a crisp and clean beer that offers light notes of hops. It goes into the palate with a lightly bitter finish. Great cold.

Very light color to it, but i found it to have a slightly nutty taste with a little bitterness.
