(Canal St. Location) Aroma very much about NUTS and toffee and apples. Reminds me about Christmas pies, cakes, and desserts. Sweet and juicy. Nice tan-white head. Slightly watery, but earnestly enjoyable. More than I expected for an ESB style from a microbrewery.

Nice dark color. I felt it had a very hoppy taste with a bitterness to it.

pleasantly bitter, a very nice beer, but I’m not sure that it is worth $5 for a pint.

If you like the bitter stuff, you’ll like this. Not as good as Ipswich Ale though.

Draft at the brewpub. Poured a clear dark orange/brown color. The head was off white with good retention. Attractive aroma of dark fruit, light pine, toffee, and molasses. Medium bodied and slightly sweet with mild bitterness. I tasted dark fruits, subdued toffee, and a hint of roasted malt. Well balanced ESB with some personality.

Cask at NERAX '02: Biscuity flowers in the aroma, hazy almost orange color, Nice bitter full finish. I could drink this all night, which I guess is the point.

Nice and bitter, good ESB. Not for everyone though.
