Commercial Description:
Alt-bier originates from Dusseldorf, and is the German version of a pale ale, with deep amber color and a very malty flavor. Brewed with German malts to provide its signature rich toasted malt flavor, it is lightly hopped with German & American hops.

Had this one on draught at the brewpub on Canal Street, Boston, Massachusetts. Dark red pour with a lacy, white head; toasted almond and chocolate malts in the nose, slightly spicey especially into the body, which has a little allspice, grape and apple fruitiness, with some sweet milk chocolate. Nice, smooth finish. Very nice.

Draft at the Fenway Brewpub - Poured a dark reddish amber in color with a medium foamy head. Some lacing on the glass. Aroma is malty with a nice roastiness and some spiciness. Flavor is malty with a mild hop bitterness at the finish. Fruity with medium roasted malts. I like it...

fully fragrant and tart this alt is tangy and moderately sweet with nice refreshing carbonation. clear and nicely contrasting in favors and body it finishes mild and clean. the almost floral/grassy caramel freshness and sweetness off the top of a keg was just fine. really good beer tasting day at the Salem beer works here at Salem Mass.

Tap at Canal Street Location: Rusty copper pour with a thin spotty off-white head. The aroma is of roasted malt, with a light hint of cinnamon. Light fruity flavor upfront. The mid-palate gives off some sweet bready malt along with a mild spiciness from Euro-hops. The finish has a toasty hint. Decent.
