Draught pint at Fenway locale on 2/2/07
Deep golden colored body is alive with plentiful carbonation and topped off with a smidgeon of quickly receding white head that leaves no lacing. Extremely clear.
Barley in the nose. Loads of it. Pretty silly stuff, actually. All you smell is mineral water, very light, fresh yeast and then tons of soaked barley malt, two or six row (probably two row, as I doubt they buy separate malts for their light beers). But regardless, it’s nice and grainy, quite crisp, with a slight lactic/tannic cereal edge giving a hint of sourness that further adds crispness. Fairly strong aroma overall, with no alcohol or diacetyl present.
The barley malt from the nose is redoubled in the flavor. Incredibly pale and refreshingly grainy with strong cereal character and a fair amount of yeast on the end, leaving very marginal fruitiness. Not overdone on carbonation, leading to very high drinkability overall. Some light tannins add a bittersweet element as from the nose, that might disturb the drinkability in the long run, but for one pint, it goes down extremely nicely. Very light bodied, rather watery.

on tap-pours a thin white head and straw color. Aroma is sweet grain. Taste is sweet grain. A bit more body than the light. Mild/minimum carbonation.
