Sweet with clean, rounded mouthfeel. Some grainy malt combined with low hop rate and sweetness derived from the honey. Not exactly original. Oakes (8142), Kowloon, Hong Kong

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 18, 2005 Bottled. Honey colored and cloudy with an off-white, fluffy head that leaves behind lovely splotches and webs of lace. Aroma is noticably musky and metallic. Some foot odor and bo as well as some flowers. Body is light with some soft carbonation and a barely dry finish. Some watery character. Flavor is very similar to honey-suckle and actual honey-comb, the stuff the bees make (not beeswax candles), some metallic notes, noticable honey presence, and a lightly bitter//sour (dough, lemon)//honey sweet finish. Bitter is somewhat woody, highly floral, somewhat waxy. dwyerpg (2545), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

This has quite a stron dose of honey, but is has enough hops and other things going on, that for the first time I’m saying that a "honey" beer is drinkable - not fantastic, but I was able to finish it, and it was a pretty big bottle. It does have a flavor of potpourri as well, or perhaps the smell just gets stronger. A very heavy and thick beer, but okay. I must commend this brewery, for allowing me to finish both their hefes and honey beers - a very rare treat. beerguy101 (3969), Newark, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 28, 2004 Orange gold color. Medium white foamy head. Aroma is honey, fruity and sweet. A medium bodied golden ale. Malts are sweet and fruity and there is a touch of honey in there as well. Hops are spicy and are quite evident. Kind of unusual in a golden ale. Light and refreshing, it definitely has a honey taste to it, but still has a hop bite. Nicely, if not slightly weirdly, balanced. Nice summer beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finished is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. AleDrinker (1090), Sunnyvale, California, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 3, 2002 Gold color you’d expect. Reeks of honey right away, but interestingly there’s little honey in the flavor. This is a smooth even flow with just a subtle honey hint in the finish. Very different. Only a slight bitter at the edge belies its ale identity. Points for originality.
