Tap. Red brown body. Small off white head. Sweet malty aroma ("Belgian"). Light to moderate sweet malty flavour. A tad burnt flavour in the finish. (De Beiaard, Amsterdam, 07.12.08)

Aroma of a whitbeer. Darker in body though, strange orange-brown unclear color. Smoky flavour, and dry and bitter finish. I’m glad I tasted it, but its no favourite. Served in a funny glass mad a bit angry barman :-) Ok, my belgian is not very good. (Tap De Beiaard, Amsterdam, 07.12.2008)

On tap at De Bekeerde Suster. Light reddish brown colour, creamy beige head. Aroma of chocolate, cocoa, malts. Flavour is caramel, cocoa, malty sweet but not too sweet, with a chocolate and roasted malt bitter finish. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. Decent bock.

From tap at the brewpub. Pours clear and golden amber with a dense off-white head. Vague caramelish aroma. Light metallic and roasted malty to a light butterish and vague spiced flavour. Light bitter yet also smooth and roasted malty finish.

Draught (Beiaard, Amsterdam)
Forboding, yet inviting toffee-coloured turbid appearance. Light creamy head. Toffee in the aroma too - promises some alcohol perhaps? Dry and nutty taste. Sticky, coats the mouth. Quite like a brown ale in part, but a bit too fizzy. Not a coherent beer experience; the smell and taste didn’t match each other, for example.
