A heart sweet stout with a strong dark chocolate character, racked with roasty bitterness and a long, somewhat chalky, burnt finish. A beautiful pour with a dark brown head. Could use a bit more retention, but at first glance, a fine dark lady. Slightly sweet, slightly bitter and well balanced, this brew plays up the chocolate notes and delivers a fine mouthfilling sensation that lasts the whole bottle. I can’t believe this is not from a tap. Great entry!

Pours a oily black colour with a large tan head. Nose is a sour yeast, roasted malts and hints of chocolate. Initial taste is watery body with deep roasted malts. Moving into sweeter caramel and astrigent bitter hop finish. Very dry on the palate. Some head retention, light bodied.

Bottle from porterhouse - thanks! Sweet toast malt with an absolute ton of chocolate (seriously, a ton) and lesser notes of burned black malt and a splash of alcohol. Good dose of fruitiness rushing in late. Just a slightly lighter shade of brown-black than motor oil, with a large and extremely uncontrollable rocky light brown head. Thin, watery body, but sweet of tooth with lots of roast, slight acidity, and a dry, caramel-and-toast after. Touch of beany cocoa. Carbonation seems a bit forced. On the whole, light and sessionable, enjoyable and refreshing, but not amazing.

poured black with a large tan head, which faded to a thin coating. Aroma was rich with roasted malts and some oats. Flavor was mostly coffee like with some sweetness in the finish. decent

12 oz bottle filled most of the glass with foam. Took a while for the dark tan, airy head to subside atop an opaque black body. Aroma of sweet dark caramel and chocolate with some earthy oats. Body has a good, fairly full maltiness and nice balance of dark chocolatey complexity. Smooth and easy to drink with some lingering espresso in the finish. I was a little worried seeing all the carbonation, but this wasn’t infected, probably just a matter of bottling before fermentation had fully stopped.

Good sized brown head of dense and creamy bubbles. Settles slowly. Rich and roasty aroma with lots of milk chocolate, oats, dark roasted grains and a bit of sweetness. Color is an oily brownish black. Roasty and dry flavor with a decent amount of bitterness. Probably from the coffee flavors. Loads of roasted grains and swet malts. Finish is dry and zippy. A pretty good oatmeal stout.
