(Bottle) Pours a black body with creamy brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, lactose, and chocolate. Flavor of roastiness, dry cocoa, and mild hops with plenty of carbonation in the mouthfeel.

7/16/2007: McGovern’s Oatmeal Stout pours a depp ebony color (near black) with a huge foamy brown head that collapses relatively slowly. The aroma has roasted malt with some sweet licorice, yeast, and a hint of smoke. The flavor is interesting and somewhat complex, but maybe a bit confusing. It contains dark fruity malt, yeast, chocolate, something sweet and creamy in the middle, slightly sour lactose, and then some roasted malt, and a hint of burnt, acidic (coffee-like) malt/chicory towards the end. The finish becomes a bit more dry with each passing drink and has some dark chocolate flavor to it. This beer has a medium body and is pretty mellow on the palate. This is a good beer, but I can’t decide whether or not I think the flavor is too burnt and/or fractured. It’s actually growing on me with each sip...

12 oz bottle (Best enjoyed before April 07.) from porterhouse. Thanks Kevin. I appreciate it. Rating #39 for this beer...

From a bottle. Pours opaque dark, almost black with a tannish-brown, creamy head. The head was huge and took quite some time to simmer down. But some of the creamy head remained on top to the end. Definite roasted coffee-chocolate aroma. Satisfying.

Well... There was a HUGE light brown head , all fizzy and such, on top of a darker brown body. Nose massive amounts of bitter dark chcolate and cofee. The head settled into a nice creamy thick and inviting. The taste was close to a coffee and chcolate milk chake, but only in a good way. The body was a bit thin, but right for the style, and the finish was dry and bitter and good. Very big thanks to Tryone !!!

Nice roasted coffee aroma. Very little hop aroma present. Dark black color with a tan head that laces the pint till the end. Really great malty, earthy, roasted not burnt flavor that makes it nice and sweet. Very good hop flavor. Nice full body, very creamy.

Bottle from Porterhouse, Thanks Kevin! Nose of dark chocolate and roastiness;;opaque black with cherry highlights on the edges and a thick tan head that disappears rather quickly; flavor of coffee, chocolate and burnt toast; mouthfeel is fizzy nad the finish has some light hop notes. Underrated beer!
