| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 26, 2009 Single bottle buy from the Binny’s in Willowbrook, IL: This poured an opaque dark brown body with a short-lived brown head. The aroma was burnt coffee beans, molasses, and burnt nuts (OW!). The flavor was quite roasty and had a touch of oatmeal added to the elements from the flavor. Perhaps a hit of dark stone fruit and alcohol. Doesn’t seem much like a Sweet Stout. Brewbie (227), New York, USA

Nose is patent and chocolate malt, molasses, pumpernickel bread. Tastes dark malty, with chocolate, cherry, some woody notes, and a huge head that reappears at the repour. Well balanced and very smooth. Starts a bit sweet with the chocolatey notes, but ends rather tart with cherry notes. Hawksfan17 (717), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 8, 2009 Pours black with a frothy mocha head. Smells of roasted coffee beans. I thought this was more of a dry stout as far as the flavor was concerned. It was dark and not the greatest choice on a summer day hah. hophead75 (1962), Boonton, New Jersey, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 29, 2009 Almost black in color with a light brown head. Aroma of roast, some light dry chocolate, minerals, metal. Taste is roasty, with some chocolate, quickly gets acrid and hard to drink. Body a bit thin, can’t say I enjoyed this one too much. eaglefan538 (2394), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jun 19, 2009 Bottle provided at SL by Bruce, perhaps. The pour was dark brown-black, some head but small for the style. The aroma was chocolate and bubblegum. The flavor followed, chocolate, bubblegum, roasty bitter, acidity sourness in the aftertaste. The mouthfeel was acidic and thin. A below average stout, imo, not enough airy mouthfeel from the oatmeal, not enough dryness, too sour. michael-pollack (2718), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 2, 2009 12oz. Bottle: Aroma of light chocolate, bitter coffee, roasted malts, oats, and lactose. Poured black in color with a medium-sized brown head that diminished but lasted throughout. Opaque. Sparkling. Flavor is lightly bitter and slightly sweet. Tastes of bitter coffee, roasted malts, slight sugar, light lactose, and some chocolate. Medium body. Average texture. Average carbonation. Lightly bitter, slightly sweet, coffee, lactose, and slight roasted malt finish. A surprisingly decent brew from Shipyard.
