Bottle thanks to daknole. Pours a dark brown color with a medium brown head. Surprisingly, there was a ton of rust around the cap, though the beer seemed fully carbonated and fine. The aroma is roasted malts, some sour notes also. The taste is good; smoky, roasted malts, caramel, and a bit of sourness which may be a sign of infection or a beer past its prime. Otherwise though, a smooth and rich mouthfeel and pretty tasty.

Draft at a local sports bar. Pours an opaque black color with a coffee-colored head. Aroma is very faint and spicy with a bit of sweetness. Taste is also a bit spicy but very subtle. Could have had a few more of these- palate was very smooth with a refreshing aftertaste.

The best beer I had on my visit to Maine in the summer of 07. Clearly I should have looked into getting some Allagash instead.

12 ounce bottle from Total Wine. Pours a massive brown head over a Raven-black body. The head sustains well. Subtle hops, soap, and grains in the nose. Flavors include rye, chocolate, oats, toast, and cola. A high carbonation and full body are out-of-balance here. A decent stout; nothing special.

Bottle courtesy of Alraomon. Pours a pitch black with 2 finger fluffy tan head. Nose is cocoa and burnt malt. Taste is ash, burnt toast, dark chocolate and a touch of coffee in the finish. Light-to-medium mouth feel. Not bad. Thanks Sean.

Pours black, with big foamy brownish/coffee head. Aroma, oat, coffee, lightly roasted (chocolate/cocoa), nose is just a little too weak. Taste of light coffee (espresso), malty, light hop bitterness, medium carbonation that takes away too much of the actual aroma.

(Rating #1966)

Bottle. Opaque black, tan head, looks fizzy then fades into splotchy lacing. Nice aroma. Straightforward. Sea salt, licorice, clean metals. Quaffable. Utterly Maine-like in its character. Dry to off-dry with an echo of diacetyl.

Re-rate at Zeke’s. Deep dark black with dark brown head and scattered lacing. Nice rich coffee, roasted malt aromas. Mocha notes are very nice. Easy going and drinkable, a quaffable stout with chicory flavors. Very nice! upgraded from 3.5
