Pours muddy yellow, giant, frothy, off-white head. Dissipates in big bubbles; rather slowly. Aroma has butterscotch, brett, yeast, biscuity sweetness and a touch of oranges. Medium carbonation, fine, dry mouthfeel. Flavour is very dry. Good grassy hops, some brett, lemony zest. Spicy and yeasty in the long, lingering, dry finish. Very nice and lightly warming. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | May 7, 2009 33cl bottle at Cafe D’Afspraak: a hazy amber with a bubbly white slowly fading head. Pale malt with hops sprinkled all over. Both earthy and citrusy hop notes. Light caramel and a bit of orange juice offer a light but deep sweetness. Malt takes the lead in the mouth at first, but hops definitely come into play. Perhaps not as much as I would like from hearing what this beer is supposed to be, but it’s there. Pale malt and pils malt character with CO2 pushing through some yeasty spice. Hop character is mainly spicy earthy. Light cardboard. Mouthfeel is perfect though. Dry enough, not thin, very slight slickness on back of tongue. Hops build up but so does an odd spice note. Long spicy hop finish with yeast. Overall much better than expected.
