It was a pink-hazy orange with a big white head. There’s a malt to it and some dark berry flavour, but the light body makes it a watery pale mess. OKBeer (1159), Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Aug 25, 2004 500 ml bottle. Pink tinted orange amber colour with a frothy white head. Fruity and caramel malt aroma plus a light smokiness that seems to be part of all Belhaven beers. Most of the fruity aroma seems to come from malts rather than the fruit. Basically a straight-forward malt accented Scottish ale, the fruit (blueberry and blackberry) makes a very light and unmemorable appearance. Light to medium bodied. Pours deep gold, heavy carbonation fizzing up with rocky white foam that quickly fizzles down into a thin and sparse head. Aroma is of malt, light fruit and is slightly stale. Flavour is malt, mixed fruit berries & has higher than expected bitterness. The flavours arent pleasently tart fruit as with fruit lambics, or rich dried fruits in many strong ales, this is more like watered down fruit juice. motelpogo (4394), Plzen, Czech Republic

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 17, 2004 bottled from the LCBO...poured a gold-amber with a rocky 1 finger off white head...stays a while then laces nicely. Aromas of black rasperry, currant, a touch of strawberry (they somehow seem artificial..too perfume-like) over a malt sweetness. The start is sweet punctuated by the berry tastes...light body...sweet crusty malts come in and overpower the fruits which hang in the background as some hops kick in...nice ride...finish is a tad cloying but tolerable with the signature belhaven malts and the currants leaving an after taste....My impression is this is Belahven’s scottish ale (an excellent tap brew) flavored with some berry extracts...but just enough to make it interesting....not a bad topical but too "girly" for an ale drinker to buy more than one for a try. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Aug 12, 2004 This fruit beer pours a deep orange colour with a short lived head. The aroma is very good. It includes ripe berry juice with a little alcohol scent and some malt. The initial sip is a little watery but nice with its fruit flavours. Raspberry and strawberry are the most dominent. Light on the carbonation side. The finish is thin with a small bitterness to it. The palate is of underripe berry juice and malt. Not Bad. beanmedic (324), Hamilton, Ontario, Canada
