jkwalking05 (1474), Arlington, Texas, USA Nov 7, 2009 Black in color with a large beige head. Aroma is of toffee, toast, roasted malts, peat, coffee, and chocolate. Taste is of roasted malts, chocolate, dark fruit and driftwood. TBone (6662), Pori, Finland Nov 4, 2009 Bottled (BB 10/2010, @Kaisla)
Dark brown color, creamy brown head, some lace. Sticky, a bit sour milky lactose aroma, some mild chocolate. Flavor is a bit similar, sweet milky, some lactose, light sourness, chocolate or cocoa, roasted malts in the finish. Very milk stout -like. Flavors are not very intensive, so it is a bit bland despite of being powerful 7%. tripelthreat (74), Soquel, California, USA Oct 31, 2009 Bottle. Deep dark brown body topped with a tan head. Aroma is honey sweet with mild chocolate and a little coffee. Flavor is chocolate, some coffee, sweet raisin and other dark fruit, and roast but none of it is very intense. Medium mouthfeel with bitterness and too much sweet dark fruit in the finish. Okay. danielcurtis81 (868), San Diego, California, USA Oct 30, 2009 Served from a bottle from K&B. The appearance is a deep brown black with a small disappointing light brown head. Nose is rich with rich roasted malt, coffee bean, and bakers chocolate. The flavors range from roasted/burnt malt, tootsie roll chocolate, dirty tones, burnt coffee grinds, hard candy. A decent stout. after4ever (2704), Brier, Washington, USA Oct 30, 2009 500. Pours nearly jet black with a dense, creamy, towering tan mousse up top. Tons of foamy lace coming down the sides. Mild, sweet, chalky, chocolatey nose. Creamy medium body, almost kinda light. Chalky, chocolatey mid-palate with a mild finish. This is one of those beers that makes you wonder if you’re not putting a proper yeoman’s effort into the rating notes, because any well-made beer ought to offer more complexity than this. But this one really does tell its whole story with just a simple, clean, straight-up few flavor/aroma notes. It does them well, but, really, it could stand a bit more complexity. As it is, it’s a rather humdrum little stout that, still, is entirely without flaw. drpimento (784), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA Oct 30, 2009 got this bottle a couple of months ago at Surdyk’s in Minneapolis. Poured with a big, foamy, fine frothy, tan head that lasted a while and a little lace. Color is an opaque brownish black. Aroma is chocolate, malty, and sweet, but not much roastiness. Flavor is very similar. Not a lot of depth. Mouth is very soft with good carbonatioin. A little alcohol in the finish. Easy drinking beer. Little too sweet for me though awiseman01 (318), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA Oct 29, 2009 Bottle. Pours pitch black with slight brown edge and lingering foamy light beige head. Nose is a balance of roasted/chocolate malt and astringency. Flavor is smooth and creamy and surprisingly pleasing compared to the nose. Some chocolate pokes through, with an overall light feeling to it for a stout. Not Bad. donfardz64 (406), Wellington, New Zealand Oct 19, 2009 500mL bottle. Pours almost pitch black, with a tiny bit of red on the edges. Nice tan head. Sexy.
Nice malt aroma, very burnt. Coffee and caramel, a bit of fruit (raisin?).
Nice warm chocolaty roast flavour, a bit of coffee on the finish, a little smoke.
Nothing too intense here, making this one quite drinkable and unintimidating.
Goes well with a cigar too. But generally I like a bit more oomph in my Stouts.
