An other Belhaven! And a stout! Wow! Has a delightful apperence: black hue with a creamy brown head, and fllat carbonation. I can feel that it is made with very light water (just like the other Belhavens) Aroma of roasted malts, toffee and chocolate. The dark thick body is a bit syrupy and gently hide the 7%(!) alcohol, that you only realize when you drink the beer. Flavour is firstly heavy sweet which turns to a moderate bitterness as you swallow the mouthful and fill the mouth a long time. What else could i say: thank you Belhaven.

50 cl bottle at City Pub, Göteborg. Black with a brown head. Malty toffee aroma, roasted, chocolate, milk. Flavor brings chocolate, toffee notes and some hops. Chocolate finish with some btterness.

Belhaven Scottish Stout is the kind of beer that is big on character, yet low on taste. The malty aspect of this dark brew is strong and holds up well. Although the body is probably best categorized as medium; there are times that I felt like this was closer to a Porter. The smell is really interesting; kind of evoking a graham crackers, salty seawater coffee type of thing. The taste is subtle. In fact, I had a difficult time getting much flavour out of this. As it warmed up, I could get more of it’s roasted barley and chocolate tastes, but by that time, I was close to finishing the whole pint. The finish is rather weak and doesn’t really take me to places that I want to go with a good, strong Stout. But by the time I had finished this, I felt a strong respect for this beer. This would probably work strongly when consumed along with food....a fig pudding or chocolate, or even a shot of rum or brandy.

Pours nearly black with a thick, creamy brown head. Full roast malt aroma with a hint of chocolate. Flavors built aroma the dark fruit end of the roasty spectrum, chocolate and toffee play supporting roles. Slightly sweet, slightly dry. Full body, creamy palate.

Delicious. Pours dark brown almost black with thick head. Aromas of black choc and roasted coffee. Hints of vanilla and coffee on the palate. Very good and would definitely have again.

(Bottle at St. Urho’s Pub, Helsinki, on 2009-08-06) Black. Tan coloured, medium sized and dense head. Chocolate and roastedness in aroma. Full bodied, lightly creamy and dry palate with medium carbonation. Roastedness, chocolate, coffee, bitterness, malts, lightly sweetness and liquorice in taste. Chocolate and roastedness in aftertaste. Way better than the version served from keg.

A 0.5L bottle tasted at Kaisla. Mild chocolatey nose. Pale brown head. Dark black colour. Soft fully chocolatey taste. Mild hoppiness. Some hints of syrop in the nose. Alcohol well hidden.
