The pour was ultra-dark brown, almost black. A short tan to brown head formed and there was a little spot of lacing here and there. The aroma was chocolate, boozy, caramel and brown sugar. The flavor was chocolate and booze mostly with some roasted malt and caramel thrown in. Thick, creamy mouthfeel. Rich.

So dark that I can’t see through it. Creamy head that never goes away. Stout smell, cocoa and roasted nuts. Creamy and smooth mouthfeel; a coating beer. Roasted caramel flavor, with a nice finish. No lingering bitterness. Quite good. Quite.

On draught at The Pub. Pours brownish-black with a compact light brown head tha diminishes steadily. Rings of lacing on the glass. Roasted coffee and malt in the nose. Medium, smooth body with coffee and malt flavors underscored by mild hops. The finish is creamy coffee and malt. Above average all around.

Dark pour with thick, dense, 1 inch foam head. Good, strong milky thick malt aroma with clear and present hops. Mouthfeek is like 2%. Laces like a blanket. Flavor is full and rich with malt, dry hoppiness, and an oak taste. A little less filling than the most popular stout. Only slight alcohol presence. A very tasty beverage.

(Draught on 2009-03-27) Black. Medium sized and tan coloured head. Mals, chcolate and roastedness in aroma. Full bodied and bit creamy palate with medium carbonation. Roastedness, hint of chocolate, bitterness and tiny hint of coffee in taste. Roastedeness and bitterness in aftertaste.

Tap at Deep Ellum. Medium head that took forever to die down. Very mild aroma of some coffee and chocolate notes. Very blah flavor with no body. Not a good beer

Nitro at Deep Ellum. Aroma somewhat vegetal and metallic with very light hints of chocolate. Flavor again uninspiring, just basic sweet malt. Rather watery. Big meh.

(Nitro) Pours a cascading opaque black body with a thick creamy beige head. Aroma of dark fruit, roasted malt, and caramel. Flavor of peat, roasted malt, nuts, raisins, and prunes with a creamy mouthfeel.
