Aroma of coffee, raisins, nuts, nutmeg, figs and persimmon cake. Taste is chocolate, raisins, nuts, brown sugar and light coffee. Lots of stuff on the nose and tongue for a low alcohol nitro tap beer! ilovedarkbeer (1367), Dallas, Texas, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 1, 2009 Pours a dark black brown color with reddish highlights and a creamy tan head. Notes of raisins, dark fruits, caramelized brown sugar. Just very sweet and dark. Nose sucks and you get a bit of graham and sweetness but the taste is pretty solid. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 1, 2009 Nitro pour at Ginger Man. Black beer with a thick off-white/tan head. Aroma is lightly cocoaish with a light touch of estery sweetness as well. A light cherry fruit over some decently roasty maltiness. Very smooth palate. As I go through this, the beer actually gets a bit simpler and less tasty. A little bit of lingering cocoa on the back. crazyvin (1254), New York, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 8, 2009 on tap at the Gingerman, poured a nice brown hue with a tan head that had some retention. Aroma was of sweet malts, some chocolate and a dried fruit note. Flavor was all sweet malts mostly a chocolate note. A somewhat smoky backbone but otherwise a very one dimenisonal stout. Finish was rich and creamy and the beer went to with ease. Tejas (703), Dallas, Texas, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Feb 4, 2009 Pretty sweet. Not much roastiness at all. Not terribly impressive. Not my idea of a stout but whatever. legion242 (1586), Richardson, Texas, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 1, 2009 black pour with a 2 finger thick cream colored head. nose of creamy malts, light caramel and some peat. smooth on the palate but not quite thick enough for a stout for me. it really tastes like they roasted the malts of the regular Belhaven. Nice finish that’s creamy and smooth. beeR (60), Helsinki, Finland
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 26, 2008 It pours a nice reddish-brown brilliant beer, with a dense cappuccino-like head which settles quite soon.
The smell is dominated by caramel and toffee notes, but a bit o chocolate and I’d say also liquorice come after a while. The taste is less sweet than the aroma let you imagine, but the caramel and malt role is important. A roasted tone is also present. The body is much less full than a stout is supposed to be.
It totally lacks of hop notes, any kind it could be.
