Dec 24, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours a medium amber color. Strong malty roasted aroma with cocoa and dark fruit. Slightly sweet roasted malt flavor along with raisin and roasted coffee in the finish. Smooth nice ale.

Dec 24, 2008 Pours a dark amber over a fine frothy head. Smell of fresh hops, grass, with a slight toast in the air as well. Tasted slightly bitter, with nuts, wood, grasses, and a hint of toasted brown bread crust. The palate was very smooth and light.

Dec 23, 2008 This might sound strange but it struck me the other evening, that this tasted like a hoppier, maltier, drier, more delicious version of a particular New Belgium beer which shall remain nameless.
The biscuit quality of this beer is very pleasant, the hops provide a good dry woody flavor and a strong bitterness to balance out a mild fruity sweetness. The beer leaves plenty of lace on the glass.

Nov 18, 2008 Pours a surprising amber color that seems promising with a slight fizzy head. The first taste is a little boring with English hops and barley and slight flavors amaretto and apricots. However, the beer leaves the mouth quite dry and the bitterness of the hops isn’t well balanced by the sweetness of the malts.

Nov 1, 2008 Bottle. Pour is a light brown/dark amber with a small frothy head and aromas of herbs and dusty/bready grains (smells almost like rye bread). Flavor has a caramel/toffee/rye bread malt presence with a bit of spice (pepper, grass, & allspice). This is pretty pleasant, but kind of uninteresting.

Oct 19, 2008 Pours deep amber into a shaker. Bright white head recedes to skim surface. Bread and caramel aromas. Crisp and slightly sour. Dry, lasting nut brown, caramel finish.
