Aroma is malty, chocolate is first impression. Taste is fruity, malty, smooth and lightly buttery. Nice hop bitterness, balancing the malt. Full body yet not overly filling. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 17, 2008 Murky muddy look with a fizzy head for its type. Soft on the palate with some sweetness and spice. I was dreading that this was trading off the name, but was actually a quite nice beer. DrFunk (80), Sorumsand, Norway

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Jul 31, 2008 It pours a deep brownish amber with a fluffy off-white head. The nose is rich in caramel, dark dried fruit, earthy spiciness and a faint hint of camp-fire smoke. It starts malty with lots of raisin and prune notes. Springing to life quickly with a soft fizz, dimensioned well for it’s medium-light body. As it progresses, roasted elements from the malt join with a good amount of earthy bitterness from the hops and finishes in a dry refreshing stroke. sirPino (860), Zawiercie / Żywiec, Poland

Bottle brown, 500 ml
Appearance: Pours bright amber, slightly reddish and lively carbonated body, head is frohy, medium, slowly decreasing to small, beige in colour, lacing is very firm.
Aroma: Ink, gently citrusy, slightly earthy, pale malty and noble hoppy character, generally perfectly balanced and mild aroma but denouncing good quality, seems to me slighty weaker than ’Belhaven Scottish Ale’
Flavour: Slightly toasted pale mat, clear, mineral, more defined hoppy character than that of ’Belhaven Scottish Ale’, earthy - herbal aromatic retronasal aroma, slightly mineral nose, finish duration is average.
Palate: Body is medium, texture is soft and wattery to creamy, carbonation on palate is mild, finish feel is light astringent and light alcoholic.
