The aroma has notes of malt, caramel and it has a hint of fruit. The flavour has notes of malt, caramel, straw, mash and slightly fruity hops. It’s uncomplicated and easy to drink. June 07.
Old rating 5-3-5-3-8=2,4: It’s a dark amber beer with a nice head. The aroma has an odd note, that I cannot pinpoint, but it spoils the entire impression for me, even when I taste it. The flavour is a bit sweet and rather malty. I’ll have to resample this one, since this was on of my very early ratings. JorisPPattyn (5174), Antwerpen, Belgium
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 8, 2007 Medium, whipped eggwhite head, over clear foxy-amber beer. Bit sourish nose at first. Reminds me for some reason of wet moor ground/plants; then a bit of caramel and some discreet hops, ending again leafy/earthy. Ashes taste, as well as earthy. Bit smoked, even meaty but then going deeper, into leafy, mossy realms. Unfortunately, plagued by the British disease, known as too much water. Which makes the flavours fade away into strathospheric space. The onset was glorious, but the campaign drowned itself in the watery lowlands. Thanks, Craig. shrubber85 (2912), Wallhalben, Germany

Extremely interesting aromas of smoky malt, peat, lemon, slightly musty; the nose reminds me of sorbet too. Very nice. Malty, rather sweet and peaty. The peatiness really adds to the taste. Smoky with some pineapple. Hints of licorice and wood in the finish. Quite good. doubelknv3 (568), Illinois, USA

Taste was grass and hops with a malt backbone to balance it out. Good carbonation and a solid taste balance this out nicely.
