with hints of smoke. Taste is strongly smoky, almost like rauchbier,
with a rounded body, and smoky aftertaste. An interesting beer, and
quite good, but not something to drink a lot of.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 11, 2005 The aroma is toasted malt with a certain earthy element. The appearance is a red-orange brown color that pours with a small off white head. The flavor is oak, caramel, roasted malt, and a light bitterness. Thin but smooth palate. The strength of this beer is in its aftertaste which is roasted malt, some hops, and butter. bitter (1137), Henderson, Nevada, USA

Smooth, some herb & malt flavour to be felt in the beginning and in the end - light but still very distinctive. I was very satisfied. | 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Aug 8, 2005 On tap, Sarah’s, Toronto. I had no idea this was on tap in the city. Dark orange pour, small thick white head. Light weak malt aroma. Heavy malt taste but very unbalanced and a little skunky. Very watery mouthfeel. Slightly orange tea like. Some lingering bitterness. Not great and not worth having the entire pint that I did. Perhaps it wasn’t served in the best condition although this is an excellent beer establishment and other pints of the night were in fine form. Maybe it just hasn’t traveled well. Maybe I’m out of excuses.
