| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 12, 2005 Great amber color, interesting mouthfeel with carbonation that is more champagne-like than beer like. Dry with a bitter finish. But nothing special. Gusler (2655), Tucson, Arizona, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 12, 2005 The beer dispenses the 500ml brown bottle a clear deep brown with a modest sized semi-creamy light tan head that dissolves rather quickly leaving a fine coating of lace upon the glass. Nose is sweet malt with light hints of peat, fresh and delightful to the senses, start is somewhat sweet with a light malt presence and a fair to middling top. Finish is pleasantly acidic and the hops delicate in their spiciness, quite dry and somewhat tart aftertaste, a nice session beer in my humble opinion. | 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Mar 7, 2005 12 oz. brown, longneck bottle. No freshness date seen anywhere. Poured out the color of iced tea. Very little head, what was there was soapy & white. Aromas are of caramel malts, slight soapiness, and some earthy, musty aromas as well. Thin body, not much mouthfeel. Sweet finish to it. Not the best Scottish ale I ever had. bbrock81 (221), Le Mars, Iowa, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 3, 2005 This is quite similar to Belhaven’s Scottish Ale. This beer is stronger, both in aroma and in flavor and intensity, but I find this to be to the brew’s detriment. It has the aroma of a very strong beer, but goes a bit too far, with a rancid edge to it. The flavor is about the same, it would be good if it was just dialed back a little. I found it to be like the standard Belhaven, taken to 120%. The problem is, that extra 20% only hurts what is otherwise an excellent ale. So I’ll just stick to plain ol’ Belhaven, and I recommend that you do the same. Geiserich (1790), Vienna, Austria

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 26, 2005 Good head and lacing, reddish brown clear ale. Aroma of roasted malts very present. Smooth caramelly taste I like this beer. Finished dry with a touch bitter will have to get more. pugsbarcom (10), Dallas, Texas, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 25, 2005 What a unusual beer! It smells like fresh mowed grass, and has a bit of that taste as well. Very refreshing on a hot day. Almost puts you on the golf course...
