The flavour is very hoppy and has a nice palate it is a bit citrus to start and getts very bitter in the finish. Very English tasting, Nice IPA Rustyham (545), miami, Florida, USA Oct 25, 2009 smell of hibiscus and tropical flowers. Flavor is of light hops and dish water. very soapy. on tap at the Pub in Naples. ansermadide (496), Kyle, Texas, USA Oct 25, 2009 On tap at the Austin Flying Saucer on October 24, 2009. A clear, yet cloudy pale orange color, perfumy citrus aroma, sweet on the tongue. Pine (or some other woody green) undertones. Its body is of light hops and a caramel flavor with the finish of sour fruit. I love it! CanIHave4Beers (833), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Oct 20, 2009 Pours a fairly clear blonde with a rocky white head.
Aroma is fairly subdued with some soapiness, some caramel, some aroma... but not much.
Flavor is hoppy enough that’s for sure, kind of a grassy on herbal hoppiness, but it’s more about bitterness than raw hop flavor. The beer is generally dry with the exception of a nice light honey note in there. There is a nice salty almost pilsner like maltiness to this one as well. It’s really fairly tasty.
6ROW (243), corpus christi, Texas, USA Sep 27, 2009 (on tap)copper pour with a small white head .great hop aromas and taste .good use of Cascade and Challenger , not over the top! i will drink this again churchill00 (154), Austin, Texas, USA Sep 21, 2009 Such a nice IPA. I haven’t enjoyed one this much from start to finish since AleSmith. And that’s saying a lot. williamherbert (461), Syracuse, New York, USA Sep 18, 2009 Look is a big and cloudy dark orange. No clarity whatsoever in the thicker spots. Big puffy head. Looks thick and substantial.
Sweet aroma is more reminiscent of a white wine than a beer. Sweet white grape aroma. Pleasant, but not much like a beer. Heavy floral, wine-like scent. Truly aromatic.
Has a very smoky, steamed first flavor. An ale undertone. Mildly bitter woody (tree bark) hops. Smokyness remains. Really interesting, though to me it’s more of a Rauchbier than an IPA.
Medium thickness in the mouth. Wet and smooth but has a tiny sticking thickness. Ashy as it warms. It’s a loverly, sweet beer. White wine with a smoky overlay. Really nice indeed. obguthr (986), Poquoson, Virginia, USA Sep 15, 2009 Draft: Apple and grain aroma. Clear golden with a medium white head. Flavor of apple core. generic bitter finish. Moer character than I would expect from a bitter, but a far cry from an IPA.
