Sharp, peppery hops that actually smell like a thistle. Astringent hop taste, reminiscent of an English IPA, with a decent amount of orange citrus flavors, and a sweeter, honey-malt finish. A pleasant surprise. zappafan99 (463), Ascension Island

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 15, 2008 Bottle from BevMo La Mesa. Pours a light copper color with a good sized head that left great lacing. Great piny and citrus hop aroma. Flavor was a bit too malty thus making the beer a bit unbalanced in my opinion. verymerrymonk (257), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 11, 2008 Pours a clear orange body with a thin but enduring head. Not what I’d think of as an APA or an IPA, but pretty good. Maybe a bit more balanced and less pungent. Nice. gotohelunc (476), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 8, 2008 Bottle. Clear, light copper color. Big foamy head settles to almost nothing. Thin hoppy nose with some sourness. Flavor’s mildly hoppy, very crisp and dry with a clean finish. Tastes like a nice session APA. durhambeer (1232), Durham, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 8, 2008 On tap at Bull McCabe’s in Durham. More malty (those British biscuity malts) than most IPAs and definitely different from the hop bombs that are American IPAs. Mild citrus, hops blended with the English malts. Solid, and much better from draught. badbeer (433), Iowa, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jul 5, 2008 Amber color with a white head leaving good lacing, some yeast chunks floating. Floral, little caramel background, medicinal. Cardboard and caramel with a weird hop twang and a sour aftertaste. Average carbonation and light bodied. I would probably try this again because I think I got a bad bottle, but this one was not very good. joeyplush (337), Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 1, 2008 Pours a medium amber with a creamy white head and good lacing. Floral hops are evident in the aroma at first, but not as much after the first sip. First several sips had a fairly strong mettalic aftertaste. Beyond that, taste was lightly bitter, with lively carbonation. The finish is a bit weak for an IPA - it’s missing that bite you expect from the bitterness of the hops.
