Aroma is cascades with some floral notes, malt and caramel. Taste is tipical IPA, a good mix of malt and hops, I could have used a little more bitterness and more aromatic, but a good overall IPA. My favourite Belhaven up to now. Sully (1367), Woolloomooloo, New South Wales, Australia

For a pommy beer this is quite high even though the style should be at the higher end. It isn’t an American behemoth but this is of no matter. The beer looks fine in the Duvel tulip glass and forms a great head over the burnished hue. The nose is quite subtle but delightful with aromas of citrus hoppiness and delicate malty overtones. The balance of these in the mouth is also special with a fine finish. This is a great example of the British versions of a fine style that seems to have been somewhat wrested from their hands by the plethora of US brews. A session beer par excellence. emjay (30), Markham, Ontario, Canada

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 24, 2006 Bright golden colour with a beautiful rockey white head and a bit of lace. Mild citrusy hop notes dominate the nose with a sweet malty backdrop. There are some woody notes in the nose that bursts with orange peel on second waft. Smooth and spritzy (if that’s possible) with a stickey hop bitterness at the front splashed with citrus notes. A bit of sweet malt in the middle makes things interesting. A nice english-style IPA, well rounded and smooth, finishes with a nice semi-sweet, bitter touch. nimbleprop (929), SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 23, 2006 Poured a murky orange with almost no white head. One of a kind aroma, floral but soapy, and like the name says, it smells of thistles. Very citrus flavor, oranges and lemons. It’s not as hoppy as I expected. The bitterness and mild hop flavor does last long though with little acidity. tomthompson89 (1489), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 23, 2006 Boring thin golden appearance. The aroma is lemony, grassy hops. The flavor has a substantial malt background, which is balanced by the citrusey (lemon) grassey hops. The finish has a lingering bitter dryness. blankboy (3224), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 22, 2006 Bottle. Pours a clear golden-amber with a large mostly-lasting fluffy white head. Nice lacing. Aroma: oh yeah, I love those C-hops! There’s just enough sweet malt there to balance things out nicely -- man that smells great. Flavour: damn tasty! What can I say, I’m a sucker for Cascade and Challenger hops -- again nicely balanced with sweet malt, and there’s a pleasant bitter finish. Medium bodied. I like Belhaven’s beers but I did not expect to like this this much -- I loved it!
