Commercial Description:
Bottle: Pastuerised.
A refreshing example of an India Pale Ale from the master brewers at Belhaven. The blend of Cascade and Challenger hops combine to produce an abundance of fresh hop aroma that preludes a bitter-dry taste explosion. Crafted from nearly three centuries of brewing heritage at Scotland’s oldest independent brewery, this ale from Belhaven will have your taste buds tingling.

Poured a fuzzy orange coler, without much head. This is an IPA but a little light on the hops. This again is a classic case of an OK but overpriced brew. It is always fun to try imports once, but you can get far superior IPA’s from a number of California breweries at half the price, including at least three here in my home town of Eureka. Anyway to get back to the ale, it had a nose of malts and some hops. Mouthfeel was OK, but not great. Only an average IPA. I hope those poor folks in Scotland can get offerings from Stone, Lost Coast, or Lagunitas to name jiust three so they can taste was a real IPA is like After spending a month in Germany trying about a hundred beers, I decided to give this another try. I have to improve my rating some, but my commets about being able to get superior IPAs locally still stands.

Cloudy orange color, small off white head that has a short hang time then fades quickly leaving little behind. The aroma was hoppy with some mild citrus notes and some funk. The flavor was not as bad as i was thinking it might be,mildly malty with a decent citrus side some hints of smoke in there as well and a decent appearance of hops, make it a not bad brew but then again it’s nothing special eather. It’s worth a go around atleast once, but there are better brews in the style out there and for a much cheaper price too,$5 / bot is way over priced for this sample.

Pours a murky light brown with a cream colored head; almost looks like a something from the sewer. The aroma screams of peat malt and earthy hops. The flavor is much in line with the aroma. Some citrus hop flavor comes through. This is a good twist to the typical IPA.

Golden with a disappearing white head. Floral aroma with a hint of soap. Lack bitterness for an IPA.

Pours an orangey color. The head dissolves quickly. Tastes of peat, smoke and cascade hops. Dry finish. Ok tasting but not exactly my favorite IPA.

Pours a nice deep golden amber color. Aromas of hops/floral/citrus. Strong hop flavors with malts and a dry finish.

500ml bottle. Poured murky orange into an imperial pint with a large, rapidly-diminishing fizzy offwhite head. The beer looks very fizzy, almost soda-like. Some unappetizing flotsam floating around despite no yeast on the bottom of the bottle. Very little aroma, maybe a hint of cintrus and malty sweetness. Flavor is indistinct bitter hops (vaguely resinous) and, bizarrely, smoke. Doesn’t really taste anything like an IPA. Very dry finish with more smoke. Medium body, watery and overcarbonated. This is the worst bottle of beer I have ever paid more than $3 for.
