Not an overly complex beer, little on the nose but a nice maltinessand calramel and excellent mouthfeel make for a very nice ale My rating is lower than my enjoyment reflects. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 20, 2008 Pours dark caramel with a generous beige head. Subtle aromas of sweet malts and whiskey with no evident hop bouquet. Surprisingly big flavors of prune, port, and toast with just a hint of tannins and hop bitterness. Full, creamy body with a clean finish. Reminds one of a Quadrupel with bit less alcohol and malt. Well worth the price. movezig (137), Pensacola, Florida, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 4, 2008 Poors very brown colour, not too dark, with a nice robust creamy head. The aroma is pleasant and oakey, with a very sweet honey or molasses edge. The flavour is strong, malty, not too sweet, and the alcohol is well concealed. It is very well balanced. Extremely enjoyable.
