if I’m in the mood for a slightly sweeter beer this is one of the ones I go for. Not an overly complex beer, little on the nose but a nice maltinessand calramel and excellent mouthfeel make for a very nice ale My rating is lower than my enjoyment reflects.

Pours dark caramel with a generous beige head. Subtle aromas of sweet malts and whiskey with no evident hop bouquet. Surprisingly big flavors of prune, port, and toast with just a hint of tannins and hop bitterness. Full, creamy body with a clean finish. Reminds one of a Quadrupel with bit less alcohol and malt. Well worth the price.

Pours clear, syrupy brown but in the glass color is ruby brown. Head is quickly vanishing but lacy and a bit cloudy. Aroma is delicious toffy, roasty malty, soft syrupy with some alcolic notes. Flavor is roasty malty, syrupy, toffy with fruits. Palate is full-bodied, oily and foamy carbonated.

500ml bottle. Soapy thick white head. Dark copper color. Sour aroma of yeast, ryebread, raisins. Palate is nicely thick and sizzly. Sour flavor, hops, alcohol, little bit sweet malts, bitter.

(Bottle, Stockholm Beer Festival, 27 Sep 2008) Reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty nose with dark fruit, roasted grain and brown sugar. Malty, nutty taste with notes of toffee, caramel and a balanced spicy bitterness in the finish. Nicely balanced. Medium to full body. Very nice beer.

Poors very brown colour, not too dark, with a nice robust creamy head. The aroma is pleasant and oakey, with a very sweet honey or molasses edge. The flavour is strong, malty, not too sweet, and the alcohol is well concealed. It is very well balanced. Extremely enjoyable.
