Bif creay head, just off-white, and a slightly murky maroon / brown body. Nose shows some stewed fruits, some caramel and perhaps a slight metallic, the latter not a bad thing. Heavy malts to taste, much weight than the nose might suggest. More hot fruits and some rhubarb (almost Belgian-like in this respect) along with a savoury cinnamon hint. Some scotch ale-esque colar flavours to finish. Actually shows a fair chunk of complexity, and came up a lot better than I expected. Must be the best Belhaven beer I’ve had to date. blutt59 (2167), Dallas, Texas, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 2, 2008 Bottle from By the Bottle in Vancouver, WA--Poured a deep dark brown-amber body with a small beige head. Mildly sweet and not spicy enough. I was mildly disappointed with this beer, but it was overall a nice product. A bit one-dimensional and lacking somplexities. Some toastiness and nuttiness, but not rich enough or smoky enough. PhatB420 (137), Pittsfield, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 31, 2008 I like this beer. the spices infuse the palate with gregerious temptations to persue more. The hops bring the malt to full effect asking for a more fulfilled endeavor to what lies ahed. Nice BeerIndustry98 (14), , California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 28, 2008 A full head erupts but quickly dissipates when poured. The body settles as a dark caramel brown color emerges. Has a pleasant toffee and earthy aroma to it. Notes of toasted almond and slightly burnt hay compliment the moderately thin body and slightly watery mouth feel. It has a great drinkable quality, great after a day’s work. Although the bottle mentions to “sip and savor” I beg to differ. Hinez57 (132), Clinton, Mississippi, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 19, 2008 Malty sweet nose with hints of earthiness and peanut brittle. Beautiful amber color more red than orange with decent sized slightly off white head. Nice flavors of mild nuttiness, sugars of all types especially light ribbon cane syrup, prominent caramel and toffee flavors. Nice balance of fruityness, dark fruits. Suprisingly similar to a Belgian Dubbel. Nice full mouthfeel and lingering sweetness on the finish. This doesn’t disappoint. If you like em malty bring on the Belhave WH! Mmmmm this is a drinkable bier with a complex malt profile. jujubeast6000 (795), Houston, Texas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 12, 2008 (bottle): Pours a strong brown body, clear. Good sized head, off-white & creamy. Okay lacing. Flowery aroma, but not like the sweetness of a Belgian. Almost dusty-like, with some kind of spice. Some nuttiness. That same dusty spice. Some clove, maybe almost banana. Enjoyable, very drinkable. The flavor makes me want more. Banana & spice on the finish. nhamilton (70), Cibolo, Texas, USA
