Pours a medium reddish-brown with a thick pale tan head. Aroma is cocoa and dark fruit. Robust Merlot-like taste with chocolate and coffee undertones. Hops are assertive, but not overly so. Some mild alcohol warmth. A very good strong Scottish ale.

Nice looking beer, deep red color with good lacing. Very smooth and easy on the palate. Malts are immedietely noticable, with a mild bready sweetness and a hint of smokiness. I expect a hint of scotch from Scottish ales, and this beer delivers. Not in an overwhelming way, but enough to let you know it is there. Sometimes it’s nice to get away from the omnipresent heavily hopped beers and just let the malt shine.

Tasted with OhioGuzzler... Deep brown, clear, moderate carbonation. Slight malt aroma. Smooth on the palate, Flavor is smokey, malty, and slightly woody. Nice sweet scotch smokiness that lingers. Tastes like a good scotch, but in the form of a beer! The smokiness stays on the tongue long after the beer has been swallowed. 16.9 oz bottle, $3.59 at The Party Source.

Tastes like scotch flavored beer. Very deep malt flavor with heavy notes of smoke that linger long after the beer is gone.

Dark red mahogany apperance, creamy tan head. Smokey aroma with a malty tone. Flavor is smokey, earthy, alcohol, and creamy. Notes of roasted barely. Has a suprisingly bitterish bite. Well balanced ale.

Bottle. Dark amber color. Pear, hints of blackcurrant and some distant hops in the aroma. Blackcurrant and hops in the somewhat earthy flavor. Thinnish. Ash. Just a touch of alcohol. Sweet and a bit sticky mouthfeel.

Bottle: Dark amber to chestnut brown, medium-sized off-white, stable head, lively carbonation; distinctive fruity nose (ripe exotic fruit); sweet flavour with the faintest bitterness in the background, medium bodied; sweet fruity finish with traces of chocolate and toasted malt (a tinge of smoke...???)and only the faintest illusion of hops in the aftertaste.Well rounded, well hidden alcohol, warming. GOOD !
