Commercial Description:
Pasteurised bottle, export only.
Belhaven Wee Heavy has a rich deep flavor that derives from the greater proportion of malted barley to hops wich characterised Scottish ales of the 19th century. A beer to be sipped, savoured and fully respected.

Wow! Great! Poured dark chestnut with medium head. Faded to thin foam and lace. Massive aroma, full of dark malt, coffee grounds, toffee, caramel, molasses, fruit, new-mown hay, and flowers. As expected, taste was a "Wee Heavy" but a magnificent blend of toasty malts, light yeast and a wallop of hops. It starts with a slighty fruity sweetness and very dark malt, and finishes spectacularly bitter. Very full-bodied but full of complex nuances in both taste and aroma. High ABV means no sessions but no sacrifice for the great drinking experience. A keeper.

As close as a beer gets to being perfect. Hops and malts are well balanced, but quite evident in their own right. A big beer that is meant for the true lover of the elxir of life.

500 ml bottle. pours nice dark brown with reddish hue and good foam. familiar belhaven aromas, bready and fruity. rich flavors of fruitiness, malt, caramel, sweetness, balanced bitterness and a gentle roastedness. reasonable carbonation, soft mouthfeel, quite pleasurable. amazing they do a few of the same style and maintain high quality, individuality and consistency.

Wow, this is hands down the best Scottish Ale I’ve had. Nice sweet, malty aroma, same taste, nice aftertaste developing mild bitterness. This beer should never be drunk cold - just slightly cool. That really brings out the flavor. A definite ’buy again’ beer.
